Meet Iwan Bagus

We are pleased to announce Iwan Bagus, member of the jury for our international photography competition "Heritage of Stone and Heaven” inspired by the UNESCO world cultural heritage of Serbia. Iwan is an Indonesian photographer, head of the photography department at the University of District of Columbia and professor of photography at American University in Washington DC.


Iwan earned his B.A. in Economics in Jakarta, M.S. in Engineering from George Washington University and M.A. in Film Production from American University. Iwan’s work has been shown at the National Geographic Society, The Corcoran-WPA, The Carnegie Institute-DC, The Center for Fine Art Photography-Colorado, The Museum of America Organization States, Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Times Square-NYC, H-Gallery Bangkok, among others. His photography exhibitions have been lauded by the Washington Post, NPR-WAMU, Washington City Paper to name just a few. Iwan has worked in New York, Los Angeles, DC, and Indonesia for exclusive commercial clients and magazines as well as non-profit organizations in DC and New York. Iwan has also served as a juror and curator for numerous photography competitions.


Iwan recently curated a group photography exhibit Emergence, currently on display at Studio Gallery in Washington DC.
