SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
WHO MAY ENTER
“Heritage of Stone and Heaven” photo contest is open to photographers all over the world. Candidates may be professional photographers or passionate amateurs, regardless of their nationality or place of residence. Any camera, any format, any style is welcome.
WHAT TO ENTER
Photographs must be relevant to the competition theme and original work of art of the photographer. Photographs can be of landscapes, sites, people (portraits or photographs of groups or individuals); events, objects or activities that convey a sense of place and/or connect people to their cultural heritage, regardless of their current place of residence.
ENTRY DATES
DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, THE COMPETITION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 9, 2022!
Submissions are open from October 25, 2021 – December 30, 2021. Entries submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
HOW TO ENTER
1. Go to page http://artexchangeinc.org/photo-competition. Please read call for entries, submission guidelines and competition rules. Click the SUBMIT BUTTON which will take you to SUBMIT PAGE.
2. Select and upload your image files that you wish to submit. Each photo needs to be named LastName_Title_image#.jpg (example: Jones_title_1.jpg, Jones_title_2.jpg). IMPORTANT: Entries must be in .JPG or .PNG file format (saved as 8bit RGB) and sized to 1500 pixels on the longest side at 300dpi).
3. Fill out the FORM for submissions. Each box marked with * must be filled out. (First name*, Last name*, email address*). Optional: write a short narrative (up to 200 words) about your photo(s) and tell us about yourself. You may share your website address, Instagram / FB page address here if you wish.
4. Follow the PayPal link to submit your suggested donation (OPTIONAL) : $10 for 1 image, $15 for 3 images, $25 for up to 6 images.
CRITERIA
Images will be judged on the following criteria: a) relevance to photo competition theme, b) originality, c) aesthetic vision and d) technical excellence. All entries must be original works of art and entirely the work of the entrant.
TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
Each competition participant will be able to submit up to six photographs, independently of each other or as part of a series, adhering to technical characteristics provided for in this article. Photos will be submitted in a digital format. The goal of this competition is to show reality; photos that contain inclusion or deletion of elements in post-production will not be accepted. Photomontages, collages, or combinations of other techniques with photography will not be accepted. Brightness, exposure, contrast, shadow, saturation, and other similar settings are allowed. Art Exchange reserves the right to reject or exclude photographs from the competition in the following cases: a) if the author does not meet participation criteria; b) if the photographs do not correspond to the thematic area of competition; c) if the photographs do not meet the above quality requirements; d) if the organization determines that the photographs could be in bad taste or offensive because of their content.
WINNERS
Winners will be selected by a professional jury and announced on February 26, 2022.
PRIZES
In addition to being featured on our website and social media:
First place winner will receive a $1,000 prize and will have their work featured in our exhibit and catalogue;
Second place winner will receive a $500 prize and will have their work featured in our exhibit and catalogue;
Third place winner will receive a $300 prize and will have their work featured in our exhibit and catalogue.
PEOPLE CHOICE AWARD
Voting in the People’s Choice Award will take place online. Exhibited entries will be in the running to win prizes in the following categories: People’s Choice Award - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. People’s Choice award recipients’ work will be featured on Art Exchange website and social media, in our exhibit and catalogue.
ONLINE EXHIBIT
The online exhibit will feature works by photo contest winners as well as of up to 100 selected contest entrants.
CATALOGUE PUBLICATION
Once submissions for “Heritage of Stone and Heaven” photo competition have been received and scored by the competition jury, selected images will be catalogued. A catalogue with selected images will be published and will be made available for sale. All rights remain with the photographer. A FREE electronic version of the catalogue will be made available for download on our website.
