Kovilj Monastery Choir: An Evening of Byzantine Chant

Updated: Oct 6, 2021

The celebrated Kovilj Monastery Choir from Serbia gave two memorable concerts at St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church in Washington, DC and at St. Sava Cathedral in Manhattan, NY in March 2015. The program presented authentic Byzantine Chants and was led by conductor archimandrite Jerotej (Petrović), now Bishop of Toplica and Vicar Bishop to His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch.

The elated audience experienced the beauty and spiritual power of Byzantine Chant performed by the members of The Kovilj Monastery Choir of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Several hundred people in Manhattan and in Washington, DC who attended two concerts also had the pleasure to hear the Abbot of the Kovilj monastery, Fr. Isihije (Rogić), speak about the history and present day activities of the monastery and to meet the members of the Choir at a reception after each concert. Special thanks to Fr. Djokan Majstorović of St. Sava Cathedral and the Board of St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church for their warm welcome and kind hospitality.
